BOBCARD has implemented a new minimum quarterly spending requirement to qualify for complimentary airport lounge access with its credit cards. This follows similar adjustments made by other major issuers, including ICICI Bank. Previously, BOBCARD credit cards did not have any spending criteria, but this has now changed. Premium cards will require a minimum spend of ₹40,000, while mid-range and other credit cards will need a minimum spend of ₹20,000 in the preceding calendar quarter to enjoy free airport lounge access.
These changes will come into effect on January 1, 2025.
| Credit Cards | Quarterly Spending Requirements |
| Eterna, ICAI Exclusive, ICMAI One, Tiara, ICSI Dimond and Varunah Premium | ₹40,000 |
| Varunah Plus, The Sentinel, Rakshamah, Yoddha, Corporate, HPCL, and Premier | ₹20,000 |

For newly issued BOBCARD credit cards, the minimum spending requirement for airport lounge access is waived for the calendar quarter in which the card is issued. This benefit applies solely to new cards and does not cover card upgrades. Additionally, BOBCARD has revised its list of airport lounges accessible with its credit cards.
In India, credit card issuers are revising their terms and gradually reducing the value of their offerings. Unfortunately, this trend is becoming increasingly common. While this may be anticipated for lifetime free credit cards, even premium cards with high annual fees are experiencing similar changes.
There has recently been a surge in traffic at airport lounges across the country. In response, banks have introduced spending requirements for lounge access. For BOBCARD credit cards, spending thresholds of ₹20,000 and ₹40,000 have been set to gain access to various lounges. As a result, airport lounge access is no longer complimentary but now comes with conditions.
Starting January 1, 2025, several BOBCARD offerings, from the Eterna to the Premier credit card, will see their benefits reduced.
