Capital One Savor card review: A $300 bonus and extra cash back in popular categories

Published on

The Capital One Savor One Cash Rewards card is a no-annual-fee (see rates and fees) alternative to the Capital One Savor card.

It earns 3% back on dining, entertainment, eligible streaming services and grocery stores, and 1% back on other purchases. That’s 1% less cash back on dining, entertainment and eligible streaming services than what you’d earn with the Savor card, but you’re spending $95 less because there’s no annual fee. You’d have to spend $9,500 more each year in the bonus categories just to earn enough to cover the Capital One Savor’s annual fee. If you spend less than that on dining, entertainment and eligible streaming services, then the Capital One SavorOne card could be a better option for you.

For qualified purchases, Capital One Savour cardholders can take use of a number of safeguards, like as an extended warranty, travel accident insurance, and round-the-clock travel assistance. Whether you have the Capital One Savour card in Visa® or Mastercard®* form will determine whether perks apply to you.

Benefits of the Capital One Savor Card:

Cardholders will receive a reimbursement for their monthly Uber One membership fee and will earn 10% back on purchases made through Uber and Uber Eats through November 14, 2024. Uber One is available for $9.99 per month and offers discounts of up to 10% as well as free delivery for Uber Eats purchases. Additionally, on qualified Uber journeys, you’ll receive 6% Uber Cash.

The following rates apply to cash back earned with this card:

  • 8% back on purchases made with Capital One Entertainment
  • Get 5% off on lodging and vehicle rentals when you use Capital One Travel.
  • 4% back on entertainment and meals
  • 4% back on streaming services that qualify
  • 3% back at supermarkets
  • 1% back on every other transaction

Redeeming

Redeeming Capital One cash back rewards can be done directly through PayPal or Amazon, or it can be done with cash, gift cards, or bill credits. The value of your cash rewards remains the same whether you choose to use them for travel or entertainment through Capital One Travel or Capital One Entertainment.

An alternative to the Capital One Savor card that has no annual fees (see rates and fees) is the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards card.

It receives 1% back on other purchases and 3% back on dining, entertainment, qualifying streaming services, and grocery stores. Compared to the Savor card, you would receive 1% less in cash back on dining, entertainment, and qualifying streaming services, but you would save $95 because there is no annual fee. Only $9,500 more would need to be spent annually in the bonus areas in order to make enough money to pay the Capital One Savor yearly fee. If your dining, entertainment, and qualifying streaming service expenses are less than that, the Capital One SavorOne card might be a better fit for you.
