Updated RuPay Airport Lounge Access Policy Effective from January 1, 2025

Published on

RuPay has introduced an exclusive airport lounge at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Terminal 3, offering a range of premium services for RuPay cardholders. Currently, cardholders enjoy unlimited complimentary lounge access, but new restrictions will come into effect from January 1, 2025. This initiative is notable as it is the first time a card network, rather than a card issuer, has introduced such a service.

Access to this exclusive lounge will be available only to holders of RuPay Select, Platinum, or higher-tier cards. The updated policy will introduce new tiers, allowing a specific number of lounge visits based on spending with RuPay credit cards.

Tier 3₹1,00,001 to ₹5,00,000Eight Complimentary Visits in a Calendar Quarter
Tier 4₹5,00,001 and AboveUnlimited Complimentary Visits in a Quarter

The new policy restricting lounge access will come into effect on January 1, 2025, representing a significant milestone as the first instance of a card network implementing such a measure. This change presents differing viewpoints. On one hand, frequent spenders can continue to enjoy unlimited lounge access at Delhi Airport. On the other hand, some may see this as a limited move since it currently applies to a single lounge at one airport. However, as RuPay continues to expand and launch more exclusive lounges, this approach could eventually become a standard practice across multiple locations.
